Sir Harry Lauder (04.08.1870 - 26.02.1950)

Skotsk music hall och vaudeville sångare och komiker. Född på Bridge Street Portobello, Edinburgh och äldst av sju barn, År 1911 var han världens högst betalde artist och var den förste skotte som sålde mer än million skivor. Sir Winston Churchill beskrev honom som "Skottlands störste ambassadör någonsin" Lauder skrev det mesta av sitt material själv och medverkade i tre brittiska spelfilmer samt i nårga kortfilmer där man experimenterade med ljudfilm. Reste runt och underhöll brittiska soldater både i WW I och WW II och för insatserna i WW I blev han blev adlad 1919.
Han gifte sig 1891 med Ann Vallance och de fick en son, John. Denne stupade dock i WW I. Lady Lauder dog 1927 och då flyttade Sir Harry's brorsdotter, Margaret Lauder, MBE (1900–1966) in i hans hem, Laudervale (utanför Dunoon), för att bli hans hushållerska och sekreterare. Hon skötte honom sedan resten av hans liv.
