Doris Day (03.04.1924 [1922] - )

Sångerska, skåpdespelerska. Född (på samma dag som Marlon Brando) av tyska föräldrar i Evanstone, Ohio som Doris von Kappelhoff. Hon döptes till Doris efter stumfilmsstjärnan Doris Kenyon. Hon växte upp hos sin mormor och började tidigt intrssera sig för dans och tänkte bli balett-ballerina. Fick dock lägga planerna på hyllan då hon skaddades i en bilolycka 1937. Började istället sjunga och som 16-åring reste hon runt med bl.a. Les Brown's och Bob Crosby's orkestrar och har gjort drygt 600 skivinspelningar. Hon filmdebuterade 1948 och har sedan medverkat i ett 40-tal filmer. 1956 fick hon en Oscar för sin roll i filmen "The man who knew too much" (Mannen som visste för mycket) och i juni 2004 fick hon the "Presidental Medal of Freedon".
Fyra gånger har hon varit gift: 1941 - 43 med trombonisten Al Jordan med vilken hon fick en son, Terry (1942 - 2004). 1946 - 1949 med saxofonisten George Weidler. 1951 - ?? med producenten Marty Melcher som producerade flera av hennes filmer och också adopterade hennes son och 1976 - 1981 med restauratören Barry Comden.
